This is a new page in the development history of the Israeli sports.
Each country needs prestige. After 50 years of proving its right for existing on this Holy Land, prestige is vital for the State of Israel. Our achievement in science, arts, economics are recognized around the Globe, yet in sports...
On the international arena of sports accomplishments - Israel is an outsider. That in spite of the fact that of the 800 thousand newcomers that have come to the country during the recent 8 years, there are many extra-class trainers. Their vast potential is unclaimed.
The young newcomers feel strangers to the Israeli society: it is indifferent to the new citizens and their problems. It does not take long before the youngsters realize that they never are to become a part of the elite. This leads to apathy, drugs and alcohol abuse and growing criminal activity.
Soccer and basketball are the state priority. All the remaining sports are treated unenthusiastically, to say the least. Yet a vast class of sports bureaucracy devours a large share of the humble sports development budget.
We have reached the conclusionRewarding of the 1998 Israeli Free-Style Wrestling Championship for juniors. that the country can not improve the level of sports achievements. In this situation, we see the solution in creation of special boarding schools equipped with sports bases, like the "Olympic reserve schools" in the former USSR, with independent administrative and finance structure. .
Our motto: We shall be victorious!
There are several boarding schools of this type in Israel, but each requires payment. For example, the tuition in the school by Wingate Institute is 15 thousand NIS (over $4000).
Our credo: Sports not for the rich, but for the talented.
Therefore sports schools have to be free, based on competition.
